21. What is the best way to train?

 In

Good preparation is different for everyone. What works for you depends on your aptitude, build, athletic background, and, of course, the time you can and want to dedicate to training. Therefore, we can’t tell you the best way to train. However, we do have a few tips for good preparation:

  • Build in regular training times. This way, your body gets used to a steady rhythm, and you’ll find it becomes easier and easier to start training.
  • Build up gradually. If you don’t exercise much or at all, it’s unwise to suddenly train three or four times a week. Build up gradually so your body can adjust to the exertion.
  • Start early. To build up gradually and still be sufficiently prepared, it’s best to start training at least 10 weeks before the race (for a Sprint).
  • Find a training plan that works for you. Of course, you can also decide for yourself how you want to train, but it can be helpful to have some guidance.
